As part of the Antser Group, we bring over two decades of experience delivering high-quality assessments looking for the full spectrum of neurodiversity that have gone on to help families and individuals gain clarity and access further support.
Our dyslexia assessments for children are carried out by fully qualified Specialist Teachers in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) with extensive experience in identifying learning differences. Using a range of recognised assessment tools and structured activities, we explore key areas linked to dyslexia such as reading, spelling, phonological awareness, memory, and processing speed.
This helps us build a clear understanding of your child’s unique learning profile, highlighting their strengths as well as areas where additional support may help them thrive both in school and at home.
A dedicated case handler will be assigned to support you throughout the assessment journey, providing a single point of contact and ensuring that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. We ensure that at least one assessment is completed face-to-face, allowing our specialist assessor to work directly with your child and gain a thorough understanding of their individual needs.
The Assessment Process
Child dyslexia assessments are designed to provide a clear understanding of how reading, spelling, and language processing differences may affect your child’s learning and development. The process typically includes:
1. Pre-Assessment Questionnaires
Before the assessment, parents or carers will complete questionnaires covering your child’s developmental history, early milestones, school experiences, and everyday challenges. This helps the assessor build a clear understanding of your child’s background before the assessment takes place.
2. Diagnostic Assessment Session
Your child will attend an assessment session with one of our Specialist Teachers in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD). During the session, the assessor will use recognised assessment tools and structured activities to explore areas such as:
- Reading accuracy and comprehension
- Spelling and written language skills
- Phonological awareness (the ability to recognise and work with sounds in words)
- Memory and processing speed
- Your child’s wider learning profile and problem-solving skills
The session is designed to be supportive, engaging, and child-friendly, helping your child feel comfortable and able to demonstrate their abilities throughout the assessment.
3. Report and Clinical Review
Following the assessment, the assessor will analyse the results alongside the background information provided. You will receive a comprehensive written report outlining the findings, whether the results are consistent with dyslexia, and practical recommendations for support at home and school.
4. Feedback Session
Once the report is complete, you will be offered a feedback session with the assessor to talk through the findings, answer any questions, and discuss the recommended next steps for supporting your child.
