A clear and supportive assessment journey
At the Autism & ADHD Assessment Hub, our dyspraxia assessments are designed to provide a clear understanding of coordination, motor skills and day-to-day functioning.
Dyspraxia, also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder, can affect movement, organisation and motor planning. Our assessment process is structured to explore these areas in a supportive and thorough way.
We assess individuals from age 6 through to adulthood, helping children, young people and adults gain clarity, confidence and the right support.
Step 1
Pre-Assessment Questionnaires
For child assessments, this questionnaire will be completed by a parent and covers your child’s developmental history, early milestones, school experiences and everyday challenges. For adult assessments, you will need to answer questions on your developmental history, education, work and daily challenges.
Step 2
Diagnostic Assessment Session
You or your child will attend a session with our specialist team. During the session the assessor will use industry standard tools to assess motor coordination, processing speed, organisation and planning. We require this to be completed at your local hub and this can take between 2-3 hours.
Step 3
Report & Review
Following the assessment, we will gather and analyse your results and background information provided. Following this, you will be provided with an easy-to-read yet comprehensive report on your results. Reports include personalised support recommendations for school, education, workplace and every day life.
Step 4
Feedback
Once you receive your reports, we will arrange for a feedback session so you are clear on the outcome. This is a session designed to answer any questions and discuss any recommended support and what that mean for you or your child. This is completed via video call and usually lasts for an hour.
What the Assessment Can Support
A dyspraxia assessment can help individuals access a wide range of support, including:
- Education planning and SEN support
- Exam Access Arrangements
- Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)
- Workplace adjustments
- Access to Work funding
Even where dyspraxia is not identified, the assessment provides a detailed profile of strengths and needs, alongside practical recommendations.
Where Your Assessment Takes Place
Dyspraxia assessments include a combination of in-person and remote appointments.
The assessment session takes place at your nearest hub location.
The feedback session is typically delivered remotely via video link.
When your booking is confirmed, we will send full appointment details along with directions and practical information to help you prepare.
Timeframe and Cost
Dyspraxia assessments are typically completed within eight weeks of submitting your referral and cost £895.
This includes:
- Pre-assessment questionnaires
- In-person assessment session
- Review of educational or workplace information
- Comprehensive written report
- One-to-one feedback session
For children, an optional paediatrician diagnostic pathway is available where formal medical confirmation is required available at Solihull & Milton Keynes Hub only.
