Autism & ADHD Assessment Hub hosted a face-to-face Q&A session in collaboration with The Birmingham & Midlands Institute.
This engaging session featured an expert panel, including a Clinical Psychologist from Autism & ADHD Assessment Hub, a representative from E-DA Charity (with a special focus on emotional dysregulation in autism), and a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SALT). Additionally, Cornerstone VR demonstrated their immersive autism awareness films in partnership with the National Autistic Society.
The event covered a range of topics aimed at deepening understanding and supporting autistic individuals:
- The development of neurodivergence and how autism has been understood in both scientific research and wider society
- Recognising traits of autism in children and adults
- The role of speech and language therapy in supporting autistic people
- Emotional dysregulation in autism – a session led by E-DA Charity
- Virtual reality as a tool for autism awareness and professional training (Cornerstone VR)
The session provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to ask questions, gain insights, and engage in meaningful discussions about autism, emotional regulation, and the role of different professionals in supporting neurodivergent individuals. By fostering open conversations and sharing knowledge, this event contributed to a more inclusive and informed community.
We are committed to continuing to support individuals, families, and professionals on their journey to better understanding and advocating for autistic people.
