Reflections From The National Neurodiversity Show Midlands

Jul 24, 2025

On 23 July, Autism & ADHD Assessment Hub had the privilege of attending the National Neurodiversity Show Midlands at the Coventry Building Society Arena. As both presenters and exhibitors, we spent the day connecting with individuals, families, professionals and organisations who are working every day to make spaces more accepting and more inclusive for neurodivergent people.

As the largest event of its kind in the UK, the show brought together a diverse mix of people. Some came looking for answers. Some came to share their lived experience. Others came to learn how to make their workplaces, schools or services more responsive and more respectful. What united everyone was a shared sense of purpose. A drive to move the conversation away from awareness alone and towards real understanding.

Throughout the day, we had so many thoughtful conversations at our stand. We met parents at the beginning of their journey, educators seeking new approaches, and professionals who wanted to know more about what respectful support really looks like. We also met autistic adults who generously shared their reflections and perspectives. These moments often went beyond information sharing. They became spaces for listening, connection and validation.

Our Clinical Directors delivered a session on recognising more subtle presentations of autism and ADHD. These traits can be easily missed or misread, particularly in those who mask their difficulties or internalise their distress. Without the right lens, many people are left unsupported. The talk focused on how presentation can vary widely, and why nuance and context matter when offering assessments and post assessment support.

We were especially honoured to be joined by Kelly, one of our Experts by Experience. Kelly spoke about her own experiences as a neurodivergent adult, with honesty and clarity. Her insight helped bridge the gap between professional knowledge and personal truth. The impact in the room was clear

We would like to thank the organisers for creating such a warm, welcoming and accessible event. It was clear that a great deal of thought had gone into making the day inclusive. From the sensory spaces to the variety of speakers and exhibitors.

And finally, thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked a question, shared a story or simply took the time to listen. Most of all, thank you to Kelly for your openness, your perspective and your voice.

If any of the topics from the day sparked your interest, from subtle presentations of autism to reducing masking, our team is always happy to continue the conversation. Please contact our friendly team today for more information!
